A deadly new epidemic strikes Song China. Curiously, Lord Kong, the corrupt minister of the Song Imperial Medical Bureau, obtains a miracle herb from Arabian traders that miraculously cures this type of deadly disease … at a huge cost to the Imperial treasury. And wherever there are huge flows of gold, there are huge opportunities for corruption.

And when our young Wuyi Mountain heroes discover the new herb doesn't work so well, it puts them and their loved ones in mortal danger.

Along the Way, Yufeng finds her fulfillment in medicine … but at a devastating personal cost. Not only must she fight corrupt officials and Arab jihadis … but she must also overcome the same inner demon that destroyed Yufei's father's life.
